The Letovice Micro-region

The Letovice micro-region includes sixteen municipalities and cities: Deštná, Horní Poříčí, Horní Smržov, Křetín, Lazinov, Letovice, Míchov, Pamětice, Petrov, Prostřední Poříčí, Roubanina, Skrchov, Stvolová, Vísky, Vranová and Chrudichromy. The village of Vísky received a prestigious award for its activities in 2008 when it won the competition "Czech Village of the Year in the South-Moravian Region".

The town of Letovice is about 40 km north of Brno at the confluence of the Křetínka and Svitava rivers. Letovice is a natural economic, educational and cultural centre of the region. It became a town in 1936. At present, the population is about 6,600. The picturesque surroundings are influenced by the position between the slopes of the edge points of Drahanská and Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The elevation of the town is between 326 m and 358 m.
